Great Barrier Reef Diving

Great Barrier Reef diving schools and clubs are, not suprisingly, high in number and it's easy to find one in almost any area of the Reef.

The Reef itself has long held the reputation of being one of the most popular places on the planet to dive - the rich abundance of underwater animal life and the easy access to many parts of the Reef are two reasons why divers head to the area in their thousands every year.

If you've never tried your hand at scuba diving before and find yourself anywhere near the Great Barrier Reef, why not give it a go? Scuba diving the Great Barrier Reef, is a great place to learn.

The majority of Great Barrier Reef diving schools can offer you a half hour (or so) trial dive in the inshore waters of the Reef. This is usually enough to let you get the feel of this exciting sport, and you get have the privilege of viewing everything underwater from a whole new perspective!

If you're in the area for a few days and think you would like to learn to dive properly, then you can take one of the certified courses that will result in you becoming a qualified recreational scuba diver.
The nature of these courses vary , but expect to take around 3 to 4 days to gain the basic certificate. Once qualified, you'll be able to enjoy some fantastic Great Barrier Reef diving with other qualified divers either privately or by joining organised boat trips out to some of the best dive sites in the world!
